Royal Air Force Brize Norton is situated in Oxfordshire and is home to several squadrons including 99 Squadron who fly the C-17 Loadmaster. The station is the base for VC-10s and Tristars aircraft.
During the summer camps of 2001 cadets were accommodated in the Gateway Hotel. As well as all cadets were given the opportunity of air experience flying in bulldogs they were all offered a flight on a VC-10 on a refuelling mission. Some cadets were given the chance to fly a number of aircraft in the training simulator. Landing at the old Hong Kong airport proved an interesting challenge to some. In addition to the flying there was .22 and L98 shooting, swimming, initiative and navigation exercises.
