2443 (OKEHAMPTON) SQUADRON NEW HQ OPENED - Posted 14 Jun 08

 

The new Headquarters home to 2433 (Okehampton) Squadron Air Cadets was officially announced open on Monday 19th April 2008 by Officer Commanding Plymouth & Cornwall Wing Air Cadets, Wing Commander Mike Symons RAFVR(T). There were various displays and talks from the cadets about their experiences in the Air Cadets and all the activities they get up to like flying, gliding, adventure training, camps and many more existing activities. Many visitors enjoyed showing off their marksmanship skills on the air rifle range as well as watching a drill display.

 

An excellent assortment of refreshments were provided by the Squadron Treasurer, Mrs Julie Reynolds with the evening rounded off with awards presented by Wing Commander Symons to Cadet Corporal Mark Reynolds for achieving his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, Cadet Corporal Henry Bedford for achieving his Silver Wings Gliding Scholarship and Cadet Warrant Officer Nick Browne for his Cadet Warrant.

Wing Athletic Team get 2nd Place - Posted 14 Jun 08

 

Plymouth & Cornwall Wing Athletics Team have come in a magnificent 2nd place at the South West Regional Championships. More details to follow shortly.

 

WING ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS - Posted 20 May 08

 

1900 (West Cornwall) Squadron topped the Wing Athletic Championship score board at Par. Their consistent scoring across all events meant that by the close of the Championship their score of 262 point was nearly double of their nearest rivals, 1225 (St Austell & District) Squadron whose 137 points was a respectable result. 147 (Camborne & District) Squadron and 730 (City of Truro) Squadron came in 3rd and 4th with 128 and 113 points respectively. LORD LIEUTENANT'S CADETS ANNOUNCED - posted 01 May 08

 

Cadet Warrant Officer Emma May of 335 (Liskeard) Detached Flight and Cadet Flight Sergeant Sarah Lucas of 2312 (Tavistock) Squadron have been announced as the Wing's Lord Lieutenant Cadet's for Cornwall and Devon respectively. The Wing Admin Officer who sat on the board said "for the first time in my 11 yrs here, we held interviews to decide who would be our Lord Lieutenants' Cadets. Not only were we pleased to have genuine competition for the posts, we were doubly pleased at the high quality of all of the candidates".

 

FRAUDSTERS POSE AS AIR CADETS - posted 31 July 06

 

plymouth & Cornwall Wing have been advised of cases of youths going door to door claiming to be Air Cadets collecting for their unit. Air Cadets are not permitted to go door to door collecting money. One area particularly hit is Bodmin. If you have any concerns contact Wing Headquarters during office hours  on 01637 857638, the local Squadron Commander whose details can be found on the Squadron page or the local police on 08452 777444 as any genuine collections will have been reported to police. Under no circumstances should you hand over any money to anyone unless you can 100% verify who they are. Always ask for identification.
